Getting Started with the RankMyAgent API
What the API does
The RankMyAgent API lets you show your RankMyAgent profile and verified reviews anywhere you like, and keeps them up to date automatically. You don't have to copy and paste reviews by hand.
Common uses:
- Show your latest reviews on your personal or team website
- Display each agent's rating and reviews on your brokerage's agent roster pages
- Pull reviews into your CRM or marketing tools
- Build internal reports on review volume and ratings across your team
You'll need a web developer or tech-savvy team member to connect the API. This article covers what you need to get them started.
Which plans include API access
API access is included with the plans below. What you can pull depends on your plan.
| Plan | What you can access | Endpoints |
|---|---|---|
| Agent premium Team Lite | Your own profile and reviews | GET /agent , GET /reviews |
| Brokerage, Team Plus | Every agent on your roster, and each agent's reviews | GET /agents , GET /agents/{agentId}/reviews |

Step 1: Get your API key
Your API key is like a password that lets your website or app read your RankMyAgent data.
- Request a key from RankMyAgent support (support@rankmaygent.com).
Keep your key private. Anyone who has it can read your data. Don't post it on your website, in emails, or in public code. If you think your key has been shared, generate a new one. [Confirm with Darko: does generating a new key turn off the old one?]
Step 2: Send it to your developer
Your developer needs three things:
- Your API key, shared securely (a password manager or a phone call, not a plain email)
- Your plan name, so they know which endpoints to use (see the table above)
- A link to the technical docs: rankmyagent.com/api/v2/docs
You can copy and send this message:
We'd like to show our RankMyAgent reviews on [our website / CRM]. We're on the [plan name] plan. The API documentation is at [API docs link]. I'll send you our API key separately.
For developers: your first request
Base URL: https://www.rankmyagent.com/api/v2
Send the key in a header, using either Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY or X-Api-Key: YOUR_API_KEY .
Agent example (your own reviews):
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \ "https://www.rankmyagent.com/api/v2/reviews?page=1&per_page=25"
Brokerage example (list your agents, then one agent's reviews):
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \ "https://www.rankmyagent.com/api/v2/agents" curl -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" \ "https://www.rankmyagent.com/api/v2/agents/AGENT_ID/reviews"
Good to know:
- List endpoints accept
pageandper_page(max 100). - The limit is 120 requests per minute. Going over returns
429, so cache results and refresh every few hours rather than calling the API on every page view. - Call the API from your server, never from browser JavaScript, so the key stays hidden.
- Full field details are in the API reference.
Rules for displaying reviews
RankMyAgent reviews are verified, and that trust is what makes them valuable to you. When you show them on your site:
- Show reviews as written. Don't edit, shorten in a way that changes the meaning, or rewrite review text.
- Keep the reviewer's name and date as the API provides them.
- Credit RankMyAgent. Include "Verified reviews from RankMyAgent" with a link to your RankMyAgent profile.
- Don't cherry-pick misleadingly. You can choose how many reviews to show, but your average rating must match your RankMyAgent profile.
[Smriti: confirm or adjust these rules before publishing.]
FAQ and troubleshooting
My developer gets a 401 error. The key is missing, mistyped, or no longer active. Copy it again from your dashboard, or generate a new one.
My developer gets a 403 error. Your plan doesn't include that endpoint. Agent plans use /agent and /reviews ; brokerage plans use /agents . Check the plan table above.
My developer gets a 429 error. Too many requests in a short time. Wait a minute, then store the results and refresh less often.
New reviews aren't showing on my site. Your site may be showing saved results. Ask your developer how often it refreshes from the API. [Confirm with Darko: are new reviews available in the API immediately?]
Can I show reviews for just some agents on my brokerage site? Yes. Your developer can choose which agents to display using each agent's ID.
Does using the API cost extra? No, it's included with the plans listed above. [Smriti: confirm.]
